The examples presented here explain how to prepare a PDF
from a document created for a 5"x7" postcard, using one of the more
commonly used layout applications, QuarkXPress. This process
is similar for any application used to create any sized file. Whether
the job is a single page or multiples, the preparation of the job
is the same.
This example assumes that the pages are organized in reader’s
order.
Note: If the subset was in reader’s spread,
you would:
- Split the pages into single pages in consecutive order.
- Adjust the bleeds and any crossover graphics and then continue
with the steps below.
Some steps in the process differ slightly when the document bleeds.
1. Document Setup in Native Application:
Printing
5"x7" postcards no bleed.
The document size created in your application should
be the same as the final trim size. |
 |
Printing
5"x7" postcards with bleed.
The document size created in your application should
be the same as the final trim size. Any objects intended
to bleed off the document should extend .125
inch beyond
the trim. |
